Canine Companions

We had special visitors at 11:00 today: Vickie, Matrix, and friends from Canine Companions for Independence. They taught us about the life and skills of an assistance dog and just what it takes to train one. They also demoed some of the dogs commands.

Today's storytime was dog-gone good! Since we were going to have some puppy pals visit, we decided to have a dog theme. The dog in this book is a little bit scary, but little chick saves the day! [Tippy-Toe Chick, GO! by George Shannon and illustrated by Laura Dronzek.
We listened to a feltboard version of Dog's Colorful Day by Emma Dodd.

We learned about colors and got to do some counting--all the way to 10--in that story!
What better way to wrap things up, than to make our own colorful dogs.
